People
The people of ExpressITech are an eclectic mix of personalities who bring a variety of strengths to our team.
Learn more about our team below.
Karen MacKenzie
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

Karen has been living and breathing this company since December 1998. She has worn many hats, but as the company has grown, she's found her niche as Chief Technology Officer. In less grandiose terms, she is head of the Application Development Division. Karen is passionate about building highly functional, interactive systems for the web; case in point, the Revolution Reservation System. Karen has always been a nerd, and she likes it that way.
Ideas come from many sources - technical developments of the ever-changing Internet, industry specific ideas from clients and partners, and brain-childs of co-workers. Karen's goal is to capture all these ideas, and turn them into a workable reality for all users of ExpressITech's systems. Armed with her programming, web development and systems design skills, she works with her fellow developers to realize the ongoing growth of ExpressITech's applications, technology and systems.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys walking her dog Tobi. She also loves to cook, which makes her more popular than your average nerd.
Stefan Klopp
Senior Software Developer and Systems Administrator

Stefan has been with ExpressITech since the spring of 2004. He acts as a Senior Software Engineer and doubles as the company's Systems Administrator. Having the dual roll drives Stefan to design scalable Internet architectures and to write software that will perform well under high load. One of Stefan's crowning achievements has been the development of Manager.
Stefan is beginning to be known as the resident road-warrior of the group, combining his love for travel with his ability to work on the road. This has lead to a new competition with fellow road-warrior Karen for having worked in the most obscure location. His most recent obscurity was when he worked out of the back of a Toyota Prius while driving to Santa Barbara.
In his spare time Stefan is an avid photographer, and can often be found playing the sport he loves, hockey.
Tom Laws
Senior Customer Support

Tom has been doing tech support for over 15-years. He started out trying to make DOS 4 "work better" on his parents XT machine, and subsequently had to learn to rebuild a machine from scratch. Since then, he has built, burned, broken, dismantled, re-built, re-re-built, hacked, slashed, sliced, diced and jullienned every conceivable computer system out there. PCs, PDAs, cellphones, and even built his own (mostly) working Macquarium and a super-cool, stand-up arcade game running MAME. He has learned the machines from the inside out and can fix them the same.
He has studied everything from thermodynamics, to IR-spectroscopy, pottery to watercolours, graphic design and typography and fills in the gaps in between. He is currently working on learning the upcoming HTML 5.0 spec and is actively attempting to lose his hearing at various punk shows in and around the Lower Mainland.
Janet Levy
Administration and Accounting

Janet is the woman who sends the invoices. She is responsible for all company finances, including accounts receivable and payable.
After graduating from the University of British Columbia, Janet started a career in education. This was followed by 16 years spent at the provincial auto insurer, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Here she worked in the Advertising and Marketing Department developing road safety programs and managing advertising campaigns.
Working in a private company gives Janet the perspective to understand financial matters from the viewpoint of the independent owner.
Robyn Moreno
Administration, In-House Writer & Editor

Robyn works in all the ‘behind the scenes’ administration. She is responsible for accounts receivable and payable, preparing and sending invoices and other related company finances. She also serves as an in-house writer and editor for website content pages as well as related company literature.
Robyn obtained her BA from the University of British Columbia in 2001 in Anthropology with a specialization in Archaeology. She spent a semester in Kenya, Africa where she gained hands-on archaeological experience. She then moved to Jerusalem, Israel where she completed her MA in Jewish Studies and Contemporary Israeli Culture.
Matt Allman
Customer Support and Revolution Specialist

Since working with computers and software at a young age, Matt has always had a knack for all things technological. Over the years he's become the resident “geek squad” from helping friends and family with computer woes, to finally setting the VCR clock to the correct time.
He eventually found his niche in web design and development, graduating from the Internet Technology program at Fanshawe College. Since then he's developed and maintained countless websites for various individuals and corporations, and is always looking to tackle new projects for ExpressITech.
Overing seeing the various projects at ExpressITech from start to finish is a welcomed challange for Matt. He enjoys talking to our clients and customers from all over the world; helping them launch their new websites live to the world wide web.
When he's not “Online” you can find him on the ice playing hockey or DJ'ing local parties and clubs.
Roman Alexeev
Software Developer

Roman started building websites as a volunteer in Moscow, Russia.
He then moved to Canada, and graduated from the Computer Programmer Analyst program at Fanshawe College. While in college he worked part time for a small local company building web applications and doing graphic design.
He started working with ExpressITech in his last year of college. He says it's been a and its been great and exciting experience so far. In his free time he plays bass / electric guitars in two bands at his local church, London Gospel Church.
